Last Week: 2-1
Season Record: 2-1
#17 Mississippi State Bulldogs at Auburn Tigers, SEC Network, 12:21 PM EST
The Bulldogs started the season off with a bang, and can really impress some people if they give last year's national champions their first loss of the season. Auburn, of course, avoided what would have been an embarrassing loss to Utah State. After seeing that performance, I can say with confidence that Miss. St can win this game.
Prediction: Miss St wins 27-16
#3 Alabama Crimson Tide at #24 Penn State Nittany Lions, ABC, 3:30 PM EST
Last year's Bama-PSU game was a nightmare for Joe Pa and his crew, but this year might tell a different story as Penn State has a team that might show some resiliency against a pretty tough Alabama team. Whoever wins will certainly be rewarded with BCS bowl aspirations, and maybe even get themselves into the national championship competition.
Prediction: #3 Alabama Wins 17-14
Another disappointing loss for the Bulldogs came at the hands of the Boise State Broncos, but a win against Steve Spurrier's best team in the past couple of years might be able to sting of the loss, and put them back into serious contention. Stephen Garcia came in to save the day, and should get the start in this one, which means the Bulldogs will have a long night on defense defending Alshon Jeffrey, Marcus Lattimore, and Stephan Garcia.
Prediction: #12 South Carolina Wins 31-21
Utah Utes at USC Trojans, ESPN, 7:30 PM EST
Utah has joined the Pac 12 conference, and their first opponent are the Trojans of USC. A first real test for 1 of the couple teams that have been begging for a shot on a national stage, the Utes hope they can muster some more magic against the Trojans. If they can, besides the non conference schedule, Utah might have a good bowl game to settle on.
Prediction: USC Wins 31-17
Notre Dame Fighting Irish at Michigan Wolverines, ESPN, 8:00 PM EST
One of the more interesting games this week is another disappointing Irish team with expectations, and a newly coached Wolverine team. Brady Hoke and UM are hosting their first night game at Michigan stadium, and Brian Kelly is hoping to turn around what was an awful showing against South Florida. If Michigan can win, Brady Hoke might impress some people and win some more games.
Prediction: Michigan Wins 28-17
