National CFB Games This Weekend

It's been awhile since I've had time to do these, in fact, the last time was Week 2! We'll continue our record from there, and although we missed some important games, some even more important ones will come into play down the stretch. Let's take a look at the National games this weekend, and give our predictions.

#14 Texas A&M Aggies vs. #18 Arkansas Razorbacks, 12:00 PM EST, ESPN
The Aggies and Razorbacks are both coming off their first loss of the 2011 season, and both to very good football teams. The Aggies had a strong lead against the Cowboys of Oklahoma State, only to squander a big halftime lead in a 30-29 loss. Arkansas, on the other hand, was outmatched heading into the second quarter, and got handed a 38-14 loss. Soon after, it was announced that A&M had been accepted to the SEC and would join in 2012. This game will certainly become an annual event for the two rivals, and should offer a good preview of where A&M is among some of the SEC "elite". Prediction: Texas A&M Wins 34-21


#15 Baylor Bears at #24 Kansas State Wildcats, 3:30 PM EST, ABC
Robert Griffin has been outstanding, while the Wildcats offense and defense are much improved. Both have quality wins over tough opponents in TCU and Miami (Fl.) The key factor in this is if RG3 turns the ball over or makes a lot of mistakes. Other than that, I just don't see KSU upsetting the Bears. Prediction: Baylor Wins 42-21

#13 Clemson Tigers at #10 Virginia Tech Hokies, 6:00 PM EST, ESPN2
Certainly one of the best games this weekend, the up-start Tigers are traveling to Blacksburg to take on the undefeated Hokies. Frank Beamer's 300th game at Virginia Tech will be the programs's toughest test to date this season, as the Hokies host Clemson who's coming off back-to-back upset wins over ranked opponents Auburn and Florida State. VT has one of the nation's top defenses, but Clemson has scored at least 35 points in each of it's first 4 games. I'm a big fan of this Tigers team. Seemed to come out of nowhere and I really like Tahj Boyd's playing style. Prediction: Clemson Wins 24-20


#3 Alabama Crimson Tide at #12 Florida Gators, 8:00 PM EST, CBS
The SEC conference gets it's start, and with a bang. The Crimson Tide and the Florida Gators have been the consistent contenders in the SEC the past couple of seasons, and under new head coach Will Muschamp, the Gators are going to try their best to knock of the Tide. Prediction: Alabama Wins 38-17


#7 Wisconsin Badgers at #8 Nebraska Cornhuskers, 8:00 PM EST, ABC
In perhaps the game of the week, the Cornhuskers first ever Big Ten game contains major implications for the BCS title picture, the B1G championship race, and possibly even the Heisman Trophy between QB's Russell Wilson and Taylor Martinez. The Badgers have outscored their first four opponents 194-34, but faced very weak competition. I would not at all be surprised to see a rematch in Indy come December for the inaugural Big Ten Title game. Prediction: Wisconsin Wins 30-24
