Good morning Buckeye fans. Welcome to your Tuesday Buckeye Bits. Unfortunately we are entering the worst month on the sporting calendar tomorrow. February is the worst.
College basketball is still weeks away from the greatest tournament on earth, the NFL will be coming to a close with this weekend’s super bowl, pitchers and catchers are still a couple weeks away from reporting and it’s COLD.
Don’t fret Buckeye fans! I am here to scour the internet in hopes of finding some interesting tidbits for you to read. Let’s get to it.
Buckeyes continue their hot streak- National signing day is only a few days away and the Buckeyes continue to pull in the blue chippers. The latest commit was corner Armani Reeves out of West Roxbury, MA. Depending on what recruiting site you look at, Reeves is listed anywhere from the 17th to 8th best corner available. It came down to OSU and Michigan in the end and I think we all know he made the right choice. It probably didn’t hurt that his high school teammate Cam Williams signed on last week but we’ll take them any way we can get them.
The Rivalry is back- The Ohio State-Michigan game will always be the greatest rivalry in sports. I really don’t care what any other fan base says. The Buckeyes have owned their little brother for the last decade (besides that fluke last November) but now the battle has spilled over to recruiting as well. I remember when the two schools would go toe to toe in the 90’s and the Buckeye’s would often lose to that team up north. No more my friends!
Urban is officially 8-0 against his new rival for recruits that held offers to both schools. I’m not a math major or anything but that seems like a pretty good success rate. One of the first guys to “switch” was Brionte Dunn and as you can see, Michigan fans showed all the class that they constantly brag about having when he made his decision final. Ahhh, the hate is palpable. I love it.
Urban’s Staff- As you know, the Ohio State coaching staff is going to look a lot different this fall than it has over the last decade. I don’t really like linking ESPN stories because of their agenda but I thought this was a pretty good read.
Brett Beliema is sticking around- Wisconsin appears to be content losing Rose Bowl’s because they have added another year to Beliema’s contract. I really think the Big Ten is headed towards a “Big 4” type set up with Ohio St., Michigan, Wisky and Nebraska as the top programs in the league. Wisconsin is always going to be a dangerous team and as much as I hate looking at the guy’s face, this is probably a good move. I look forward to beating them in Madison next year.
That’s it for today. Keep it locked to ITS as we near National Signing day on February 3. We will keep you up to date on the newest Buckeye’s joining the fold for 2012 and beyond.
