Well it looks like my chanting got through to them. Of course, it could also have something to do with Donovan putting the ball in, with only minutes left. Boy, does this remind anyone of the USA hockey team???

What the hell?????

The U.S. came back aganist Slovenia, but could have won the game on this play right here. The ball even went in to the goal, but the referee called it a no goal. When asked later about it, he wouldn't respond just saying that it wasn't offsides. This is the worst call I have ever seen, and it is disgraceful. You can clearly see the men being held like it was a football game (American Football, that is.) Here is what Landon Donavon had to say about it.

"I'm a little gutted to be honest," Donovan said. "I don't know how they stole that last goal from us. I'm not sure what the call was. He (the referee) wouldn't tell us what the call was."

Well, the day ended with 1 of 2 moments that could have been won. First, the Michigan State-Purdue game was getting good, with Kalin Lucas taking absolute control of the game near the ending. By the time there was about 30-40 seconds on the clock, the Purdue coach just gave up trying to foul the slipprey Spartans. The game was fast paced, but way too many shots were fired, and missed. Although the Boilermakers were without Robbie Hummel, their star, they had plenty of oppruitunites to win the game. The loss snapped the Boilermakers' 10-game winning streak, and came while their other two stars -- E'Twaun Moore and JaJuan Johnson -- combined to go 7 for 27 from the field. Purdue had a legitamant shot at being the new number 1 team in America, but fell short when it counted. Michigan State's win over Purdue put the Big Ten leaders in a 3-way tie once again, with Purdue, Ohio State, and Michigan State. No matter what happens to MSU and Purdue at this point, if Ohio State beats Illinois, they will win the Big Ten outright. It will also be the second time that the football, men's basketball, and women's basketball took the outright Big Ten title in the same year. The last time, was in 2006.

Finally, in what will go down as one of the best Olympic games in Hockey of all time, Canada prevailed winners, but that doesn't mean the U.S. didn't give it their all, even in the end. Canada's collection of all-stars held off a young, desperate U.S. team that had beaten it a week ago and, after staging a furious comeback from down 2-0 on goals by Jonathan Toews and Corey Perry, almost beat the Canadians again.

With Canada less than a minute away from celebrating the gold medal, Zach Parise tied it with Miller off the ice for an extra attacker. The crowd in Vancouver was not happy, to say the least. In overtime, It was back and forth, and back and forth, as the collosal powers met again in the gold medal round. It ended up with Sidney Crosby pulling a sweet wrist shot into the goal for the win, and gold for Canada. USA fans shouldn't be too upset, as our boys played real hard, and almost won it at the end. Congrats to a great season in the Olympic prespective.

This is ITS's 4th POW, and you should all know, and cherish this. What with the Olympics going on and it almost being over, the USA hockey team is one match away from being in the final for gold. I thought I would commerate their miracle season when they upset the Soviet Union and then beat Finland in the final, for gold as well. This year's squad has been pretty good, upsetting Canada. We wish them good luck for the rest of the tournament.
