Air Attack on Pearl Harbor a.k.a SMU leads Nevada 31-0 at halftime

The Nevada secondary is facing an all out aerial attack much like the US navy did on that fateful December day in 1941 not too far from where this game is being played. The drone oops Padron air attack has resulted in pass plays of 58 and 71 yards en route to a passing total of 303 yards. And yes - this is a halftime update only. June Jones knows all about beat downs - he was the recipient of one as the Hawaii head coach in the Sugar Bowl a few years ago. So not much of a storyline - SMU showed up to play, Nevada didn't.

So let me digress here. Behind this gr8 pass attack of SMU is .. u guessed it.. a true freshman QB from Southlake TX that has produced the likes of Greg Mcelroy, Chase Daniels etc. For some years now I have been hearing of a '7 on 7' drill they run in Texas where the QB basically throws without linemen but with the presence of DBs. I am sure a lot of u have heard of it. Like the wildcat, I dismissed it as a gimmick, coming as I do, from a school where Woody created the '3 yards ...dust' doctrine. But I am slowly turning into a believer of this drill. From Matt Stafford to Colt McCoy to Greg McElroy to Chase Daniel to Jevan Snead etc. etc. Texas (the state) is churning out one quality QB (that can throw) after another. And in my opinion the state of Ohio has to take notice and if needed copy the system ... Or at least give it a serious look. Ohio (the state) has been the cradle of coaches and I hope someone in that system is looking at this '7-on-7' system being used in the state of Texas. How else do you explain the poise and performance of a true freshman like Padron in just his 6th game as a starter?
