Comeback Kids Bruins beat the Owls 30-21

UCLA pitched a second half shut-out and surged offensively to score 30 points and prevail in the end over the Owls for a hard earned 30-21 victory. There are no moral victories as we hear often, especially in defeat. But to Al Golden's credit, they were facing athletes of a better caliber and lacked depth unlike their opponents. They had not been to a bowl game in 30 year. They had been ejected by the Big East and had to seek shelter in the MAC. In the circumstances, they fought and gave UCLA all they could handle.

On the opening drive of the second half, Terrance Austin caught a pass in the flat from the QB Prince and raced along the sideline into the endzone aided by some poor tackling from the Owls. The momentum was beginning to swing but Temple gave the pendulum some added swing towards the Owls by turning the ball over for the first time on the ensuing drive through a INT from QB Charlton. He would throw another one later in the game from his own endzone which was returned for 1 yard for a pick-6. It did not help that Temple lost their bruising RB Pierce to an injury either. And when Temple botched a snap in the punt formation sending it high through the back of the endzone, the writing was on the wall.

The PAC-10 is now 2-2 in bowl games this postseason.
