The Navy Midshipmen got another victory for the service academies with a convincing win over the Missouri Tigers 35-13 in the Texas Bowl played in Reliant Stadium, Houston.
Navy held the ball for 41 min with the Tigers playing 19 min only on offense. In those 41 min, Navy's triple option attack raked up 516 yards against a porous Tigers defense. Ricky Dobbs, the Navy QB accounted for 4 of their 5 TDs. Navy defense forced Missouri into 3 turnovers including 2 INTs from Missouri QB Blain Gabbert. Missouri really lost the game on 3rd down converting just 4 of 11 opportunities. The Midshipmen by contrast converted 8 of 15 on 3rd down and more importantly, 2 of 3 on 4th down.
The game was a good opportunity for the CFB fraternity to see how good a team Navy was this year. The Buckeyes took some heat early on in the year for letting Navy stay close till the end of the game but this season in general and this game in particular puts that close win in perspective.
