The Buckeye football team finished the season in 5th spot in the final AP poll. Bama, Texas, Boise and the Gators finished ahead of them.
When Beanie, Hartline, Laurinaitis, Robiskie, Jenkins et al left last year, it became clear that the 2009 season was going to be a re-building year. Pryor with Beanie in the backfield (last year) and without him in the backfield (this year) was huge to the identity of the offense. And hence when you see what this team accomplished, you have to give them kudos:
1) Beat their rivals - Illinois, Penn State and TTUN
2) Won the conference outright
3) Won the Rose Bowl - the biggest prize for a Big 10 team not playing in the title game
4) Finished in the top 5 at the end of the year.
In the weeks to come, I'll blog randomly about the season that was and try to put it in perspective. We'll also look at depth charts at each position leading upto spring ball. Don't worry folks - before you know it, it'll be September again. But right now, enjoy the successful season and savor it like a connoisseur.
