Cavs Next Coach?
I know I am suppossed to be talking about Buckeye Nation and all that we have going for us....National Championship this year baby!!! But if I can step back and discuss LeBron and how he affects everything Cleveland has. It is sad but our Monetary Foundation in Cleveland is based on a 25 Year Old Prima Donna. So with that said....who can right the ship??
Byron Scott - 2 trips to the NBA Finals and hard nosed work ethic. Doesnt mind calling his players out and demands respect. Well he did win 2-3 rings as a player, so he knows what it takes to get there. Is a good "in game coach" and will not wait to react like Mike Brown did. I like the thought of him here, but my guess is .....he is Laker Land bound as Uncle Phil retires...the guy can barely walk. Issue: He wears thin after 2-3 years on the players.
Larry Brown -The NBA version of Rick Pitino and John Calipari......aka Vagabond. Has led different teams to the Finals w\ Philly and Detroit and has had mild success w\ the Knicks. I like the guy and he has connections to Dan Gilbert from the Pistons Glory Days. He took a one man; Iverson Team and made them into Contenders. Lebron has more weapons than AI ever did, and could actually run an offense and demand respect out of his players. Issue: He is 104 years old
Tom Thibedeaux - Doc Rivers right hand man. Highest paid assistant in the league. He is the backbone for Doc. He is defensive minded coach and you see what he has done to Cleveland and Orlando in the playoffs. iI dont know what he brings on the offensive end and would need a Hubie Brown type of mentor to help him along. I still think this is what Mike Brown needed and his pride led him astray in this category. Issue: Lack of experience being the top dog and isnt this what we had with Mike Brown?
Jeff Van Gundy - Has the experience in New York and Houston. Defensive guy who can also make adjustments on the fly. His brother besides being the "Master of Panic" is a pretty good X's and O's guy. Also carries a pretty big name and that will help in the recruitment of LBJ and whatever else Danny Ferry has up his sleeve. Issue: That goofy combover. How do you demand respect with that thing flopping over every 15 minutes.
Mark Jackson: No experience, but neither did Doc Rivers. Listening to him on ESPN shows that he understands todays athlete and game. He could be the dark horse that nobody speaks of and will need a veteran coaching staff to guide him through the strategy parts of games against the Jerry Sloans of the world, but this could be our guy. Issue: EXPERIENCE
I know there are others like Monty Williams and Dan Majerle, but it is better to work off a short list and go from there. If LBJ doesnt come back, all bets are off and we will turn into the sellers rather than the buyers we have all come accumstomed to.
I trust Danny Ferry will find a way to work some sign and trades....LBJ needs help and that starts with working with Toronto and unfortunately it starts with Anderson Varejo and JJ Hickson. God Speed Danny, you ruined our Franshise with the Ron Harper Trade, by no fault of your own, and now it is time to rewrite history for Clevelands Sake.
