| Velcro..how long can he last? |
Without any actual game played between teams within the conference yet, what have we learned about our Big Ten brethren so far? Denard Robinson’s life insurance premiums are skyrocketing every week. DickRod is relying on the Nardster (I thought it was pretty catchy) for most of his offensive production thus far. That is all well and good until he actually runs into a real defense. I am not disputing that Robinson is a great talent but he can’t possibly keep up this ridiculous pace. If his head is still attached to his body by the time the Buckeyes see him, I’ll be shocked. Michigan quarterbacks thrive after they transfer away from Ann Arbor. Steven Threet and Heisman candidate Ryan Mallet are playing some good football for their respective teams. I remember how bad and literally incompetent these two looked in their limited snaps for the Wolverines. I guess we found out what the real problem was.
FCS opponents continue to be the kryptonite for Michigan football. Granted they ended up winning this past weekend but gave up a whopping 37 POINTS AGAINST UMASS! Yikes. This game was in doubt more times than the Michigan faithful would like. I knew that the UM defense was porous but didn’t expect a maroon colored waterfall to come busting through. The Maize and Blue will not be able to get away with defense like that when Big Ten play starts. Enjoy that 3-0 record while you can because it is built on a house of cards.
Iowa, apparently, is not ready to become an elite team in the conference. I could hear the thud of unrealistic expectations crashing down all the way from Tucson Saturday night. Look, Iowa has a better than average offense and a solid defense. The trip to Iowa City will still be a great challenge for the Buckeyes. This is just one of those teams that seem to be a tad overrated in the preseason polls from year to year. It must be because of their super coach and annual award winner Kirk Ferentz. It’s like he has won 6 straight Big Ten titles, appeared in 3 national titles and has been to a FBS record 8 BCS games. Oh that’s not him? How does he keep winning all those awards?

| This will work, I swear! |
Tim Brewster’s house is now on the market. This is complete speculation on my part without a shred of evidence to back it up but would you bet against me right now though? I didn’t think so. What a horrendous team they have fielded this year to open up that sparkling new football stadium. It’s unfortunate but not surprising.
Michigan State may have jumped up to contender status with their thrilling win against the Domers. It might have been the ugliest fake field goal I have ever seen. I was sure that it wasn’t going to work when I was watching it live but the big guy upstairs was smiling on Sparty that night. Anytime Notre Dame suffers a crushing defeat I am happy. Their fight to get back to relevance along with Brian Kelly’s massive ego took a big hit. On a side note, I am glad that coach Dantonio is resting comfortably at home and is expected to make a full recovery. That was a scary story to wake up to the following morning. From all accounts he is a good coach and an even better person. Hopefully coach D makes a speedy recovery and gets back on the sideline for Sparty soon.
This just in… the Wisconsin offensive line is freakin’ huge. Those boys must be on the premium food plan at UW. As most of us know, the next big test for the Buckeyes will come in October with a trip to Madison. Heacock will have his hands full in coming up with a plan to penetrate that human shield. Their game against UNLV was a little close for comfort but overall this is the biggest threat to OSU’s seventh title. Hopefully the Buckeyes can get through the next few games with minimal injury.
