ITS's Top 25 Week 2

Week 1 of College football is officially over, but don't fret, we've got a monster weekend ahead of us due to so many big games. Ohio State/Miami, PSU/Bama, Oklahoma/FSU, etc. Boise State was the talk of last night and today, when they came out on top 33-30 against Virgina Tech. Now we see how they did in the polls..

#1 (-) Alabama - Who needs Mark Ingram anyhow? Eddie Lacey, the redshirt freshman led the backs in yards per carry, and total yardage. Alabama was one of the few SEC schools that looked good in their opener, and are still the team to beat.

#2 (-) Ohio State - With Terrelle Pryor and Brandon InSaine, the Buckeye offense was dominating against Marshall all night long. Added with that comes the depth at all the positions. We saw Jaamal Berry second for stats, and fans are urging Tressel to get him more playing time.

#3 (-) Texas - Coming off a closer than expected win over Rice, Texas will continue to develop Gilbert more and more. I think as the season goes along, the quarterback will get better and better. The question is, can he actually lead this team to a BCS bowl?

#4 (6) Oklahoma - Coming in at #4, you might be surprised to see the Sooners, after a very close game with Utah State. If it not for the "game winning" interception, Oklahoma might have been deep on this poll. They had better get their act together, otherwise, FSU might have an upset on them.

#5 (-) Boise State - Boise State came out against the Hokies like they do against every BCS school. Attacking. VT was not prepared, and was quickly down 10 points. After a couple of questionable calls, Boise got the 33-30 win, but our writers ask, would they be up to defeating Ohio State, Bama, etc?

#6 (8) Iowa - Eastern Illinois didn't have a chance. Ricki Stanzi led the way for the Hawkeyes in a 37-7 rout of the Panthers. Stanzi looked good, but Robinson, the tailback, was outrageous, scoring 3 TD's in the first half.

#7 (-) Florida - Florida almost dropped a game to Miami (OH), but luckily the defense came to the rescue almost every time. So far, not impressed with John Brantley, and Urban Meyer knows this team isn't ready to compete for a title, at least, not yet.

#8 (9) Nebraska - Nebraska tried to tell people that they had an offense. Many critics assumed Ndamukong Suh was they're offense, but now that he's gone, they still held Western Kentucky to only 7 points, as they scored 49.

#9 (13) Oregon - Literally jumping into the Top Ten, Oregon destroyed New Mexico 72-0. Looking to perspective, it is the worst defense in College football, but still, special teams and all, Oregon was on key. Without Masoli they are doing just fine.

#10 (-) Miami - FAMU is not a good team. They have one of the worst secondary's, but Miami proved they are on the uprise, and showed a tune up. Now can they battle #2 Ohio State for the win?

#11 (-) Wisconsin - No rise for Wisky, but no drop either. UNLV had they're fair share at upsetting Wisconsin, but Bret Bielema said no. John Clay and Scott Tolzien we're the main keys in victory. Wisconsin needs to prove they deserve in the Top Ten soon.

#12 (-) TCU - The Horned Frogs got an impressive win under their belt against Oregon State, and although it was close, TCU is now in the same category as Boise. They have proved they are worthy, and now will go back to they're daily lives of upending the BCS.

#13 (21) Arkansas - It's obvious Ryan Mallet is going to be a great QB this year, and the Razorbacks could have a chance at the SEC Championship game. They still have a long way to go, but it's possible.

#14 (15) Georgia Tech - Moving up a spot is the Yellow Jackets as they cruised past South Carolina State, 41-10 as Nesbitt will try and prove that they are legit.

#15 (17) Florida State - Christan Ponder is on the watch list to win the Heisman, and you saw why as FSU creamed Samford 59-6. It looks like Bobby Bowden will not be needed this year, but Jimbo Fisher is already changing the face of the program.

#16 (NR) Stanford - Andrew Luck put up some really impressive numbers, as he is going to lead the Cardinals (Trees) to a great season. Luck will try and put Stanford in a position to win the Pac 10.

#17 (22) Auburn - The Tigers looked pretty impressive during their opener, and they get rewarded with a good spot in the ITS Poll. Newton had 5 TD's to lead them to victory.

#18 (-) Penn State - No change here, as the Nittany lions have a true test against Alabama. If PSU sticks with them, and wins, how much chaos would THAT cause?

#19 (16) LSU - A "dominant" LSU team barely held off North Carolina while they were losing players left and right. Of course, a win is a win, but when you're from the SEC, we expect big wins.

#20 (10) Virgina Tech - Dropping 10 spots, the Hokies came out looking very slow against the Broncos, and then started to wake up a bit. After a great second half, VT got some calls that were questionable, and Boise State danced back to Idaho.

#21 (23) Georgia - Without A.J. Green, fans expected a win, just not in the fashion that the Bulldogs did it. They ended UL Lafayette's chances early, winning 55-7. The Bulldogs could have a successful year, especially when they get Green back.

#22 (NR) West Virgina - The Mountaineers make they're first appearance on the ITS poll, with a solid win against Coastal Carolina, 31-0. They were only up 10-0 in the first half, so we will keep our eye on them.

#23 (NR) Houston - Case Keenum is back to putting up the Xbox numbers once more as he completed 17 of 22 passes for 274 yards and five touchdowns to lead Houston to a 68-28 rout of Texas State Saturday in front of the largest crowd to watch a game at Robertson Stadium, 32,119. If he leads his team to good bowls, he could be in the mix for the Heisman.

#24 (NR) Utah - Utah is seriously one of those BCS Busters that are just interesting to watch. Last week, we had Pitt all the way up at #14, and Dion Lewis couldn't do much against the Utes defense. If Utah plays like they did in the 27-24 win in overtime, they could have a shot at a better bowl then last season.

#25 (NR) South Carolina - Steve Spurrier won his 18th straight opener when the Gamecocks proved to be on this list. Lattimore, the tailback, will be the go to man all season long for SC.

Dropped: (20) Oregon State, (24) Cincinnati, (25) Washington.
