Signing Day Predictions Part 3

It's Signing Day! That means it's time for our final predictions for this class. This time around, we will only be looking at Keith Wells and Duron Carter. Both are former Buckeyes, leaving because of academics.

Duron Carter, the son of Hall of Famer Cris Carter, has been playing at Coffeyville, and has done well. Now, it seems that OSU doesn't want him back, via his Twitter a month or so ago.

Keith Wells is an interesting story. He's got some talent, he's been able to make his grades rise, so there is a possibility to come back for him.

Let's delve into the projections:

Duron Carter, WR, Status: Uncommitted

The Info

After announcing that he had re-opened his recruitment, Duron Carter's first choices were Oregon, LSU and Miami. All of those have stayed quiet, and now Duron has been saying that he would like to come back to Ohio State, but it was up to OSU itself. The academics have really come back to haunt Duron, and the fact that it seems that his attitude hasn't changed much doesn't help.

As far as his skill set goes, in his freshman year at Ohio State he was pretty decent, with only a couple of drops here and there. We saw flashes of greatness (think Indiana, 2009). We also saw the bad part (his Twitter account and being suspended for the Rose Bowl). At Coffeyville, he caught 44 passes for 690 yards and 10 touchdowns in nine games. With Dane Sanzenbacher using up his eligibility, Ohio State could use some serious fire power in the air. DeVier Posey will be absent for 5 games next season, serving his suspension, and the only "veteran" returning from the receiving core would be Corey "Philly" Brown.

Who does he choose?

Carter may be in luck, since the situation Ohio State is in leaves them in need of a receiver. I would think they have talked a couple of times, and his dad I'm sure, has vouched for him. If Tressel is willing to give the kid another chance, I say why not. Otherwise, I have no idea where he would end up but Ohio State.

Keith Wells, Defensive End, Status: Uncommitted

Wells, who should be back with the team in time for spring drills, said he had his academics in order to be re-admitted into Ohio State. Depending on who gets some scholarships tomorrow, Keith will be back on the team in no time. Nate Williams will be one of the leaders of the defensive line next year at defensive end, and depending on how hard he works, I could see Wells starting opposite of him. If not, he will definitely be in the two deep.

If there aren't enough scholarships at the end of the day, Wells can still walk on. If he decides to do that, more power to him, and he can still make just about the same impact. I don't think it matters much, especially because of the rumored transfers from a couple of players from the current Buckeye squad.

Who does he choose?

There is no doubt in my mind at all that he is going to be a Buckeye once more.
