Friday's Buckeye Bits

It's the end of another week here at ITS, and we plenty to catch up on.  In other words, it's FRIDAY! Time to dress casually for work (if at all), leave early, play that awful Todd Rundgren song, and sit in traffic for hours since everyone forgot how to drive in snow.  Yay!

Leading off, as we told you yesterday, Cameron Burrows is Urban Meyer's first recruit for the 2013 national championship team. The number two CB in the nation hails from Dayton's legendary Trotwood-Madison program. Landing a high-profile commitment 13 days before the prior year's signing day is a major coup for the new coach. Burrows announced his decision at a press conference in his school's auditorium. We just wish he'd said "I'm taking my talents to High Street."

From the "Oh no, not again" file: Art Schlichter is in trouble again. The former Buckeye quarterback failed drug tests for cocaine while on house arrest awaiting approval of a plea deal that would lead to a 10 year sentence. Schlichter's rap sheet is well documented. It's unfortunate that he keeps getting himself into trouble.

Do they still use bulletin boards? If so, here's some material. One time Buckeye commit, now Michigan commit for 2012 Kyle Kalis of St. Edward of Lakewood has apparently been threatened by Buckeye fans, and isn't backing down. He claims "there will be blood on the field" on November 24th. It would have been so much cooler if the guy with the deep voice that does movie promos said it. "There will be blood, on the field" echo echo echo. "Coming November 24th to a plasma near you".

In other news, the Men's Basketball team travels to Lincoln Saturday night to beat Nebraska. I hope. The Cornhuskers upset the suddenly weak Hoosiers Wednesday.

On a lighter note, "Et tu, Brute Buckeye?" Eddie George will be portraying the title character in a production of Shakespeare's "Julius Caesar." No word if he will strike the Heisman pose after getting stabbed.
And that's all for this morning. Stay warm, watch the Bucks shuck some corn tomorrow, and watch a weekend of football without Tebow.
