Good morning Buckeye fans. Congratulations! Why am I congratulating you? It’s because you survived the most depressing day of the year yesterday. That’s why!
Personally, I think all Monday’s are depressing (especially in the dreaded off season) but apparently the third one on the calendar takes the cake. That’s what some crazy British Scientist says anyway. Have no fear though. Another edition of “Buckeye Bits” is here to help ease the pain of the work week. Let’s get to it.

Urban Meyer Has Entered The Building. Urban Meyer, along with his coaching staff, was officially introduced at the last home Basketball game against Indiana. Obviously Urban has been heading the program for the last month+ but it was nice to give a formal introduction to the fan base. I’m sure you have seen the video by now but if by chance you just emerged from a cave, here’s the link to check it out.
If you’re busy and don’t have time to check it out, there were a few things that jumped out at me. The boo’s that rained down on Gene Smith when he was introducing Meyer were freakin’ LOUD. I’m not sure he was the right guy to throw out there. The ovations for Fickell and Vrabel were tremendous. I am so pleased that both of these guys were retained on the staff. It was a great PR move by Meyer (not that he needed it). Finally, the Meyer daughters were, how should I put this, easy on the eyes. I just hit 30 years old this year so I’m dangerously close to “creepy old guy” status but I had to throw it out there.

Taylor Decker Officially A Buckeye. I guess we can’t say “official” until paperwork is signed but it appears that Meyer has done it again. Decker issued a verbal commitment to Ohio St. and bailed on Notre Dame (yes, that sentence was just as fun to write as it was to read). Kelly is likely to make another run at Decker before it is all said and done but for now OSU has convinced yet another player to flip on his original commitment. Decker should be a great addition to an offensive line that is losing 3 starters next season.
Indiana Went Down. Hard. The basketball Buckeyes righted the ship against Indiana this past weekend. It was nice to get back to our winning ways, especially against Tom Crean. That dude just rubs me the wrong way. Hopefully this victory can inspire the squad to finish off the second half with a vengeance. March is just around the corner so it’s time to put this thing in high gear and aim for that #1 seed.
I Hate Tim Tebow. There, I said it. Apparently, I’m not alone. Andrew from SB Nation hit the nail right on the head with that article. I understand he is a good guy and I’m not trying to diminish his charity work but ever since that fateful night in Arizona… well you understand. It was so satisfying to watch Timmy’s dream season go up in flames on Saturday night. Being a Browns fan, you have to find pleasure in the misery of others. It’s sad but true. It was a fun ride Tebow but an NFL quarterback you are not.
That’s it for today people. Hope you enjoyed the “Bits” and remember to check back with ITS for all your Buckeye needs!
