Thursday's Buckeye Bits

Good morning folks. Time for another your morning links. Hopefully you find a couple here that you haven't already seen.

OUCH!!- As a frequent sufferer of back pain, this piece made me cringe a little bit. I am in no way trying to compare my own plight to that of our fearless leader but I kind of know how it feels.

If you suffer any type of chronic back pain, read at your own risk. I had no idea the extent of Thad Matta's troubles. I have a whole new respect for the man (not that it could get any higher after the success he has given us on the hardwood).

Tournaments in the past- Cleveland.com gave a quick overview of past tournament appearances for the remaining four squads in New Orleans this weekend. I guess you could find all of this info out on Wikipedia but it was nice to see it in one condensed article. Matta and the boys can improve on that so-so record with some killer hoops this weekend. Fingers crossed! I haven't been this excited for basketball in a long time.

Wisconsin signs.. err recruits another QB- Is this the new recruiting angle for the Badgers? First they woo Russell Wilson and now have inked another top-notch quarterback of the waiver wires. I realize that this is an accepted practice but it still feels slimy. Can these guys develop their own talent or will they just continue to poach from smaller schools?

I think they are leaning towards the latter if the past couple years are any indication. @sarbucks, who writes for 11W on occasion, won the tweet competition today with this beauty: "I'm not sure how Bielema keeps recruiting transfer QBs, but I'm assuming it's the same way he snagged his wife: a super long-lasting roofie" - I LOL'd for about 10 minutes at work after reading that. Good show!

Urban live and in color- Our boy Chris Spielman caught up with coach after the first installment of spring practice (FINALLY!). Check it out here.

Wismar- My man Dan Wismar just keeps putting out gold over at theclevelandfan.com. He only puts stuff out around once a week but it is gold every time. I love reading his writing and I hope I've convinced some people to check him out on a regular basis.

It's a bird. No it's a plane! Nope, it was a bird- Our very own super fan Buckeye Guy was in a close call on I-71 the other day. I think we all have a different opinion on him. Many think he's a great guy, some think he is an attention whore and everybody thinks he gets too much camera time. I think the real man falls somewhere in between all of that.

However, I think we all can agree that he's lucky not to have been hurt during this accident. He is a Buckeye fan after all and we have to stick together! You know, to warn off the constant trolling and whatnot.

That's it for today. By the time you read this it will be mere hours until the Bucks tip off in Nawleans (sp?). I'm sure I've just offended the entire Cajun community with that spelling but who cares! It's almost time to throw down. Saturday can't get here fast enough.
