Texas A&M Vying For SEC, Gets Turned Down

Not going to happen. For now.

Thursday evening, Aggieyell.com reported that Texas A&M is on its way to the SEC, pending approval by Board of Regents at an August 15th meeting and final SEC approval by league presidents. Obviously, it did not go through like A&M expected. University of Florida president Bernie Machen, the chairman of the league's presidents and chancellors committee, said the group met Sunday and reaffirmed the satisfaction of the present 12 institutional alignment. Machen also said no action was taken regarding Texas A&M or any other schools. He didn't, however, close the door on change. 

Two weeks ago, Slive and SEC lawyers met with A&M officials, when the league requested that the school work out the possible legal ramifications surrounding its contract with the Big 12, the report said. The Board of Directors for the Big 12 held a conference call Saturday to discuss Texas A&M's plans.

As many of you know, the summer of 2010 was a monumental one for college football. No team was safe in the expansion move, as virtually every team was a potential move. Notre Dame, Texas, Nebraska, Missouri, Pitt, TCU, Boise State, and more were the favorites to be moving. Nebraska moved to the Big Ten, while TCU headed to the Big East, and BSU fell into place in the Mountain West. There were more moves, such as Colorado to the Pac 10, as well as Utah joining the same conference.

There was also fear for every team, as we weren't sure whether or not the traditional college landscape would collapse, and we would move to 2 Super conferences with 16 or more teams. Surprisingly, the SEC didn't budge. Now, with that, it brings us to today's news.

A&M to the SEC

Texas A&M is headed to the SEC according to reports by thier regents at the school.
Texas has been reported as agreeing to a 10 team Big 12.

Both teams from the get go struggled early to get their team clicking, and special teams was all first half. Then in the second half, Georgia started rolling in rout to a 44-20 victory that gave the SEC their first bowl win of the season. I happend to watch some of the game and every time, it seemed like Texas A&M's Johnson was either throwing or running for big yardage or a first down, and he had 2 of A&M's touchdowns, the other going to Christine Michael. The real playmakers came for Georgia, in Joe Cox and Caleb King, both who had 2 TD's in the win. This didn't come as a real shock, but it does put a damper on the 20th win, as we also have now, 10 losses.
