The rout is on : Black Shirts silence the wildcats 23-0

You want to talk domination - here is a stat for you : The Wildcats have 32 yards of offense in the first half off of 23 plays they have run. The Cornhuskers on the other hand have been effective with 202 yards of offense and 23 points.

If there were any doubts the Huskers would come out flat after the deflating loss in the Big 12 title game, they were dispelled as they intercepted Nick Foles in the first series to setup a short field for their offense. Zack Lee, the Huskes QB ran it in 4 yards for the first TD of the night. The Huskers also interspersed some gadget plays into their conventional offensive scheme, running the wildcat formation with Burkhead. We'll just call it the 'Wild Corn' formation so that we do not confuse the formation with the team name Wildcat. It was effective and fittingly, Burkhead ran the ball in from the Wild Corn formation for another TD.

No mention of the Cornhuskers is complete without their star linesmen NDamokung Suh. He and his cohorts on the defensive line have brushed aside blocks like flies in the face. Suh has also been used a lead blocker on offensive plays.

But he is the known devil. You have to look at the Huskers kicker, Alex Henery. He looks like he has sticks for limbs but the guy can kick. He has been rock solid from as far as 50 yards kicking field goals and also has pinned Arizona deep on punts.

So expect more of the same in the second half. The million dollar question is - will Arizona score or lay the perfect egg in this game?
