The UConn Huskies imposed their will on Coach Spurrier's Gamecocks to win 20-7. UConn was actually pitching a shutout until late in the 4th quarter when the Gamecocks scored in garbage time.
UConn executed efficiently on offense including a sensational catch by Kashif Moore for a 37 yard TD that opened the scoring for UConn. They rushed 48 times for 146 yards and chewed up clock. QB Frazer only completed 9 of his 21 passes for 107 yards but several of those completions were critical in keeping drives alive.
As for the Ol Ball Coach who prides himself on being an offensive genius and outscoring his opponents, it was a frustrating afternoon. His QB Garcia only completed 16 of his 38 passes for 129 yards and was intercepted once. All the wide receivers took turns in dropping passes in the interests of equal opportunity. The coach who is known for flipping his visors in such situations was not seen doing that this afternoon and we are investigating if there were velcros on the visor to keep them in place.
SEC Homers who had predicted that the Gamecocks would rout the Huskies by a minimum of 3 scores because of the conferences speed, toughness and great D, have reluctantly asked the Mythbusters to look into those great attributes of that conference. I mean, how could a measly Big East team from the North that was 3-4 in conference impose its will on the Gamecocks. Watch out for the Mythbusters to bring the truth to us.
