Rise and shine Buckeye fans, it's March Madness Week! Despite the Buckeye's loss in the B1G Championship to Michigan State, the weekend was still a success after finishing off a great run for the basketball team.
Heading into the weekend Buckeye fans were a bit skeptical of their chances in any tournament, let alone the NCAA tournament. Thankfully, a last second win over MSU to win a share of the regular season title, and shutting down Purdue and Michigan, brought some much-needed energy and hope before the March Madness tournament.
The Madness begins tomorrow but to hold you over until then, let's dive in to today's Buckeye Bits!
Buckeyes Earn A 2-Seed. The NCAA March Madness tournament selection show yesterday revealed the seeding of the 68-team bracket, where the Buckeyes landed in the East region as a #2 seed. The opponent they will face (Thursday at 9:50) is the #15 seed, Loyola Greyhounds. The Buckeyes region is pretty tough, featuring opponents such as #1 seed Syracuse, #3 seed Florida State and #6 seed Cincinnati. Here are the rest of the region's, for your viewing enjoyment: Midwest, West, South (H/T Eleven Warriors)
Coaches That Actually Coach Is Nice. Going to break the basketball trend for a second. SmartFootball.com has posted video of Ohio State quarterback's coach Tom Herman giving drills and exercises to Braxton Miller and the rest of the quarterbacks in the Buckeyes roster.
It's a pretty good breakdown given by the coach himself and you can really see the things that these quarterbacks are working on. It's certainly a step up from having a video coordinator as your QB coach.
The Villain Gets His Shot. Back into the basketball theme, former Ohio State baller and current Philadelphia 76er, Evan Turner has stepped his game up after receiving a significant amount of minutes in the past 3 games then normal. Starting on Wednesday of last week, Turner blew up for 26 points in a win over the Boston Celtics.
Then, against the Utah Jazz, Turner managed 16 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists in another win. On Sunday Turner faced Jeremy Lin and the New York Knicks. He managed to light up the scoreboard again, this time with 24 points, 15 rebounds and 2 assists. It seems like the 76er's coach is finally playing his former #2 pick and it's worked out well for their team.
We wish the best of luck to Turner on the rest of his season and hope he continues to dominate!
