Ohio State Ranked 20th In 2012 ESPN Preseason Poll

Ohio State is ranked 20th in the country by College Football Live's Preseason Top 25 poll. Finishing 6-7 last year under interim head coach Luke Fickell, the Buckeyes weren't ranked at all for the last few weeks. Urban Meyer was then hired and since, hope has been building that the Buckeyes can be as good as they allow themselves to be.

While OSU isn't eligible for any kind of championship, they still have the opportunity to win a lot of games to build momentum into the 2013 season.

Basketball Buckeyes Ranked #3 In Preseason Poll

No soup votes for you
On Wednesday, the Coaches Poll came out, releasing it's Preseason rankings. The Buckeyes (who return Wooden Top 50 players Jared Sullinger, Aaron Craft, and William Buford to the team) were ranked #3, but received no first place votes. That honor was held for North Carolina who received all but 1 first place votes, and looks to compete for the national title behind sophomore Harrison Barnes.

Going now to look at the schedule, I see a pretty tough road for Ohio State, but if they do win these big games, I'm sure voters will place them on top if UNC fails to impress against lower schools. Ohio State faces #10 Florida, #6 Duke, at #13 Kansas, and then a couple of ranked Big Ten conference games.

Coaches Poll Preseason Top Ten
1. North Carolina
2. Kentucky
3. Ohio State
4. Connecticut
5. Syracuse
6. Duke
7. Vanderbilt
8. Louisville
9. Memphis
10. Florida

Your thoughts on where the Buckeyes were placed?

ITS's Preseason Blogpoll Ballot

Happy Monday to you, and welcome to the first week of the 2011 College Football season. How awesome does that sound? As we told you yesterday, Inside The Shoe has been given the honor of being on the staff of the prestigious Blogpoll, presented by SB Nation. Look at us all grown up, using big words. The way the ITS Blogpoll Top 25 works, is that our 5 writers all send in their own personal Top 25, and I average them out into the "final" ballot that gets turned into SB Nation. So while I might have put Western Kentucky at #1, the rest of the writers might have them at #2 or #3, ultimately pulling them down to #2 or #3. We are very excited about this opportunity, and we hope you give us your thoughts on how the poll turned out, so we can adjust it in the future polls.

This is as much as our poll as it is yours. We will take all comments into consideration, and nothing gets overlooked. With that, our rankings are after the jump, so we'll see you there!

A Little Bit of Everything

They're winning, duh
Ed. Note: This post was written by Brady

Before I get to my weekly bitching and moaning about Buckeye football, I wanted to bring up the building excitement for the ongoing baseball season.  I know that anyone who stumbles upon this corner of the blogosphere isn’t looking for MLB updates but this is my one public forum on the internet and I’ll be damned if I don’t give a shout out to the Wahoo warriors at the corner of Carnegie and Ontario.

It was my 30th birthday this past weekend (please direct all cash gifts to the Jim Tressel legal fund) and my wife organized a surprise weekend of baseball and debauchery in the great city of Cleveland for me.  The Indians managed to sweep their cross state rivals (sorry Ian) and the once unimaginable run at the AL central crown continues.  Not only do the Indians have a 7 game lead on their closest divisional foe but also sport the best record in all of baseball! Ed. Note: We'll be the one's apologizing come this post-season.

Watching this magical first two months has been a great reprieve from the endless bad news trickling out of Columbus this spring and I encourage any baseball fan to hop on that bandwagon before it fills up.  I am a huge MLB supporter and the Indians have continually punched me in the gut over the years with their near championship runs and mind numbing trades.  Finally, those player swaps are paying off this season and I can only pray that the Tribe is this year’s Cinderella.  Time will tell but almost 50 games have past us on the calendar and the Indians continue their dominance.  OK, enough baseball.  Let’s get to the Bucks.

High Rankings...My Thoughts and Worries

This was the last play I remembered that night...

I posted the preseason top 25 rankings a few days ago and as you all know our beloved Silver Bullets sit at #2 sandwiched between 2 SEC schools. As I looked at the rankings and read other blogs and random articles this week, I only have one question. Are we ranked to high to start the season? Hold off your torches and pitchforks for just moment.... It just feels as if the hype around this team feels eerily similar to 2006. I just hope for the sake of this season (and my sanity since I live in the South) that this team takes all the hype for what it is...hype.

As stated in previous posts, the downfall of the '06 team was their willingness to believe the "un-beatable" hype that surrounded them for pretty much the entire year. Luckily we aren't viewed as unbeatable (at least not yet) and I hope that this team will play the entire season with a chip on their shoulder (similar to the 3.80 quarters of the '08 Fiesta Bowl and the '10 Rose Bowl) and send a message all season long.
