Former Ohio State Running Back Daniel "Boom" Herron Drafted By Bengals

Boom Herron is headed to the Bengals

While Daniel "Boom" Herron missed the first six games of the season in 2011, he was still able to make a big impact on the team by rushing for 678 yards, averaging 5 yards per carry (135 total carries).

Today, Boom Herron's hard work at Ohio State paid off as the Cincinnati Bengals drafted Herron in the 6th round with the 191st overall pick in the 2012 NFL draft.

His total career at Ohio State (4 years) he had 32 touchdowns and 2,872 yards on 593 carries. He once played backup to fellow former Buckeye Beanie Wells and also split time with backs such as Brandon Saine and Jordan Hall.

Herron was also named one of the 2011 team captains by Luke Fickell. He leaves the Buckeyes ranked eighth in TDs and was a first-team All-Big Ten performer his junior season.

Boom gets to stay in the great state of Ohio, near his friends and family. Herron will get to learn from current running back Cedric Benson has been given a opprotunity from the Bengals to come in and compete right away. I think Boom's tenacity and hard work will pay off with some minutes this fall.

This leaves Mike Brewster from Ohio State as the only other Buckeye prospect that is expected to be taken in the NFL draft this year. With the draft winding down, time is running out for Brewster who's stock fell after a lackluster senior year.

The first week of college football ends tomorrow, and we have a jam packed week ahead of us as the Buckeyes get ready to face off against the Hurricanes. Boise State will test their might aganist Virgina Tech, to see if they are a contender or a pretender. The ITS Poll will come out Tuesday. (Hopefully).

Cavaliers: The Cavaliers will open the season aganist the Boston Celtics, but the big game comes December 2nd, as the Miami Heat head to Cleveland. This is going to be interesting. For all your Cavs news, head over to Fear The Sword.

Reds: The Redlegs won another game aganist the Marlins last night, taking the series after they're tough 3 game sweep to the Cards. The Cardinals lost, giving the tie for first back to the Reds. Dusty doesn't like going for sweeps, but I think in this situation they have to. The next series they have is a tough 9 game series of West Coast teams including the Diamondbacks, Dodgers, and Giants. They need to take 2 out of 3 of those series to stay in this race. This in my opinion, is the toughest away stretch this half of the season. The other one that comes to mind is at St. Louis, and at Colorado. For all your Reds news, head on over to Red Reporter.

Bengals: After an opening loss to the Cowboys, the Bengals will look to bounce back against the team that gave them the immaculate deflection at the beginning of the regular season last year. Chad Ochocinco has informed the world that the starters will play all of the first quarter this time, instead of a couple of drives. For all of your Bengals news, go to Cincy Jungle.

Buckeyes: The Seniors and juniors lost the kick scrimmage, and Jermil Martin is transferring to Ashland, which is full of former Buckeyes. That's one spot gone, with about 3 other RB's to fill it. I wouldn't worry too much about it, as he was pretty much gone anyway since he never attended practice. My man, Jaamal Berry is soaking in the Buckeye camp, as he's full of good news. Berry says he hasn't dropped a pass, for fans to expect a lot of big plays and runs, and he expects to start on Kick Return! (There you go SBB). Cavs: It appears that the Cavaliers have signed Joey Graham. Graham, (6-7, 225) was with the Denver Nuggets last season, averaging 4 points and 2 rebounds in 63 games. Bengals: The Bengals have signed Carlos Dunlap. The deal is worth 3.57M and 1.779M in guaranteed. Carson  Palmer says that there is no reason they can't go 19-0 and win the Super Bowl. Andre Smith has gained a few pounds. Ugh. For all your Bengals news, head over to Cincy Jungle.


Reds: The Redlegs didn't do anything during the trade deadline, but we pretty much knew that was the case going in. On a game note, the Reds won a 3 game series with the Brewers, and now are tied with the first place Atlanta Braves thanks to a good hit by Ryan Hanigan, and a fluke throw from the outfielder. Cavs: The Cavs just finished their summer league play, finishing with a record of 3-2. The "star" player during the league was with no doubt Pooh Jeter. He averaged 14.8 points per game and finished fourth in the Summer League in assists per game, and has agreed to a deal with the Sacramento Kings. This is obviously not good news. Reds: After coming off a disappointing 2-2 series tie with the Washington Nationals, the Reds have regained the NL Central lead with 2 wins over the Houston Astros, as they took the series. Looking for the 3 game sweep, and trying to distance themselves from the Cards, they play again today at 2:05. Bengals: The Bengals could still sign Terrell Owens, but reports are saying that it all depends on Antonio Bryant's knee. Cedric Benson had a "productive" talk with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell after he was charged for assault. For everything on the Bengals, visit Cincy Jungle.


Buckeye Football: Terrelle Pryor says that his knee will never be 100% again, but it's as close as possible right now, and he is excited to prove what he can do on the football field this season. You know where to go for all your Buckeye news :).

Cavs: Obviously that didn't go the way we wanted to. If you don't know what I'm talking about, you might have heard something about our best player leaving to go play with Bosh and Wade. Of course, then it got worse when Dan Gilbert, the majority owner, wrote a scathing letter to LeBum, stating that the Cavs would have an NBA Championship before Lebron does. Twitter put it best as one tweeter(?) stated, "This is the beginning of a long feud." Oh boy. For more on Cavs news, head over to Fear The Sword.

Reds: They went 3-4 this week starting last Sunday, finishing the Cubs. Then they played a 3 game series against the Mets, which was very important. We won that series 2-1. Thursday, we started a 4 game series vs. the defending NL Champions and have lost 3 straight. In extra innings. Travis Wood, last night, the Cincy pitcher threw a perfect game through 9 innings. Then a double ended that. In the 11th with the game tied at 0, Jimmy Rollins, who hit one of the walk off homers, was up to bat with 2 men on. Of course, he hit a base hit, sending them to a walk off win again. The Reds lose the series, but maintain a 2 game lead against the Cards in the NL Central. Bengals: Ochocinco said that this year will be the Bengals year to win the Super Bowl. Also, it's the year of the Tiger for that Chinese/Japanese calender. Also, it is rumored the first pick of the draft next year for the Bengals will be a running back. Analysts are thinking they go with Ryan Williams from Virgina Tech. According to this report, Brian Shaw is the next Cavalier coach, with or without Lebron James. I've never been a huge fan of this, but I would rather have Byron Scott coaching the Cavs. Also, Scott's agent sent a congratulatory email to Shaw that was pretty lengthy. Nothing is official, but just about. I guess we will see if Lebron stays with this choice of coaching. For those of you who want info on Brian, he was the assistant coach to Phil Jackson for awhile and is his "most trusted" assistant.

The Cincinnati Reds are still doing well, leading the NL Central along with a win over the defending NL Champions, the Phillies, 7-3 last night. St. Louis won as well, so our lead is still a half game. Tonight, Mike Leake, the outstanding rookie, pitches against Joe Blanton.

Chris Henry died with brain damage. Multiple hits to the head, which happens many times in the NFL, can lead to damage such as that.

Your POW comes this week from the Bengals. Today, they signed a 2 year deal with Adam "Pacman" Jones ensuring him of playing in the NFL again. A lot of Bengals fans are outraged by this, but I think it could end up making us better. If he still has the talent, with a lot less attitude, then you've got yourself a star player. I think it will make this team better. If he does act up, Mike Brown should know what to do. The Spring Finals will continue tommorow, so look for that! While we wait..

While we are waiting for Ohio State news to report for you guys, let's give you a break down of what's happening around the Buckeye sphere.

First, the Pittsburgh Steelers traded Santonio Holmes for a 5th round pick. Let me say that again, a fifth round pick. I know this is fairly old news by now, but come on! I know he had a mediocre year last year, but he still won you the Super Bowl just 2 years ago. I would think he deserves better than that. Not only did he get traded, he got traded to the New York Jets. Normally, I wouldn't care much about that, but this is a team that is getting more dangerous by the second. As for the Bengals, they are going to have a tough time competing with them next year, and I think the rest of the NFL might to.

Evan Turner is going to be a Harlem Globetrotter tonight. He is testing his skills, and having a little bit of fun, while he waits for the NBA draft. It will be cool to see him at the Value City Arena making flashy moves, and of course, winning. (Do the Globetrotters ever lose?) I think it's a good thing for him, as it will keep him working hard to get that first pick. I don't know where he will end up, but my guess is the Timberwolves, just because he will be right behind Wall in the draft, although I hate to say it. Turner is the best overall player this year, and there is no doubt about it.

Finally, the Reds are doing just fine, winning in extra innings last night to the Florida Marlins, 6-5. They stand ranked at 18th in the MLB, which isn't too bad. They have won 3 straight now, though.

The drama has ended.

In what is most likely the last story for Seantrel Henderson's recruiting, today it was told by several sources, including USA Today, that reported that Seantrel Henderson put the ink on his fax, and is headed to USC. The monstrous OL said he had decided on USC about a month ago, and that the only reason he waited was for his ACT scores to go up, so he could attend school. Another reason was that he wanted to hear the verdict on the USC case, which nobody has yet, and we still won't for a couple of months, and obviously his father didn't want to wait that long for his record deal with Snoop Dawg. I really am disappointed in Seantrel, hoping he would maybe pull a Blind Side, throw his dad over the boundaries,  and go to Ohio State. Instead, he decided to go to USC, which has Lane Kiffin, where he cheats, and lies. Also, might want to add that we will leave a college for a better job, even after one year.

As the NFL season is not even close to beginning, I thought I might add some news. The Cincinnati Bengals are currently looking for three key things in the upcoming 2010 NFL Draft. A safety, wide receiver, and tight end. They are reportedly looking at Kurt Coleman, if still available, and Kurt has already said it would be an honor to be drafted by the Bengals. Mardy Gilyard is also being looked at, from Cinncinnati, for the wide receiver spot. I would like to see them check out Jake Ballard, since we all know he a great TE, if used right. If we end up getting 2 of those three, that would be impressive, and we could make this a possible Super Bowl run. Of course, we have a lot of things to work on before we get there, but I think it's a possibility.

Finally, the Woman's basketball team takes on Mississippi State tonight in their NCAA tournament, and we want to wish them the best of luck, as we are all rooting for them hard, and of course, to upset UConn. How sweet would that be??

Bowl Break, NFL

If your a Bengals fan, your probably reading the right post. I myself love the Bengals, and are ready to watch them clinch their divison, and earn a play-off spot! I want to see what Marvin Lewis does, does he go full strength? If it starts gettting out of hand, let the back-ups play. Honestly, I´m pretty excited, if the Bengals win today, it will be the first time since 2005 that they´ve been to the playoffs.

The last bowl game this week features the first SEC team, in Kentucky, facing a battle tested Clemson team led by C.J. Spiller. (20th win)? Afterwards, Bowl Week 3 will be posted. Stick around folks!
