While we wait..

While we are waiting for Ohio State news to report for you guys, let's give you a break down of what's happening around the Buckeye sphere.

First, the Pittsburgh Steelers traded Santonio Holmes for a 5th round pick. Let me say that again, a fifth round pick. I know this is fairly old news by now, but come on! I know he had a mediocre year last year, but he still won you the Super Bowl just 2 years ago. I would think he deserves better than that. Not only did he get traded, he got traded to the New York Jets. Normally, I wouldn't care much about that, but this is a team that is getting more dangerous by the second. As for the Bengals, they are going to have a tough time competing with them next year, and I think the rest of the NFL might to.

Evan Turner is going to be a Harlem Globetrotter tonight. He is testing his skills, and having a little bit of fun, while he waits for the NBA draft. It will be cool to see him at the Value City Arena making flashy moves, and of course, winning. (Do the Globetrotters ever lose?) I think it's a good thing for him, as it will keep him working hard to get that first pick. I don't know where he will end up, but my guess is the Timberwolves, just because he will be right behind Wall in the draft, although I hate to say it. Turner is the best overall player this year, and there is no doubt about it.

Finally, the Reds are doing just fine, winning in extra innings last night to the Florida Marlins, 6-5. They stand ranked at 18th in the MLB, which isn't too bad. They have won 3 straight now, though.

The Evan Turner era has ended.

Evan Turner announced today that he would be headed to the NBA to "continue my quest of being one of the best". Many expected him to move on, but like most Buckeye fans, I thought he should would have stayed. Although that leaves us with only a little less talent, because we still have Sullinger and company to take the reins. The question stands on what team he will go to. Of course, being in Ohio, I think the Cavs should try and trade up to get Turner. Could you imagine the insanity? Lebron James and Evan Turner. The King and the Villian. On the same court? Awesome. Will it happen, probably not, but I guy can hope, right? The Buckeyes will really miss him around these parts, though. Turner said he made the decision last night, and hasn't even hired an agent yet, which I thought was pretty interesting just because I would have hired the agent first. We want to thank Evan for coming to play his hardest at Ohio State, and we will miss his services very much.

So Evan Turner has finally done it. After a long season, that included a back-breaking performance (pun intended) on his return to the team, that led the Buckeyes to the Big Ten Title, and a Sweet Sixteen birth. Although he couldn't take them all the way, they might not have made it without him. Evan Turner's presence of just being on the court makes everyone better around him, and that is why he is considered great at what he does. Evan Turner is Ohio State's first player to win the Naismith, and that is something he can hold forever. The Buckeye Battle Cry said it best here:

"Earlier in the evening, Turner also won the Coaches Association player of the year award bringing his total of post-season POTY awards to 5. That number could become six in a couple days when the Wooden Award is announced - Turner is a finalist for that award."

Jared Sullinger, who won Player of the Year in high school, is attending the Ohio State University next year along with some more fantastic recruits. Thad Matta and Buckeye Nation await on the word of Evan Turner coming back or leaving. Although many want him back, I personally think he is leaning towards the NBA, and there's really nothing wrong with that. If he does come back, you can almost taste the championship trophy in your mouth, guaranteed. Of course, we will keep you updated on the status of where he goes, and all other Buckeye news.
